JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We at the Cultural School in Gävle are looking for a violin teacher who is passionate about guiding and inspiring children and young people. From our beginner string groups to more advanced students in the world of music. The position as a violin teacher may include work within El Sistema. Our goal is to offer meaningful activities and make the music life in Gävle accessible to every student. Would you like to contribute? Then you are warmly welcome to us!

Your responsibilities include:

• Teaching violin both individually and in groups, focusing on developing students' musical skills.
• Engaging, inspiring, and motivating children and young people with the violin as the main instrument.
• Contributing to an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
• Planning, executing, and following up on teaching and music pedagogical activities.
• Participating in activities during school holidays and, if necessary, working evenings and weekends.
• Collaborating with colleagues and contributing to the development of the school's pedagogical methods.
• Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that is permeated by diversity.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for an engaged violin teacher who wants to inspire children and young people in their music learning. You need to be confident in your string playing and have the ability to motivate students at different levels. We would like you to use a playful and curious approach, perhaps through creative exercises, rhythm, musical improvisation, or other inspiring methods that spark the desire to learn and explore music.

• High school education is required, and a degree in pedagogy or music is an advantage.
• Good ability to communicate in Swedish.
• High professionalism on the violin and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
• Experience teaching violin to students both in groups and individually.
• Training in the Suzuki method is also an advantage.

To succeed in the role, you are:

• Empathetic and attentive, with the ability to see each student and create safe, trusting relationships.
• Inspiring and motivating students by encouraging joy, development, and curiosity in learning.
• Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to meet each student's individual needs.
• Structured and skilled at planning and organizing to create engaging and well-functioning lessons.

You must be able to present a criminal record from the police for work in schools or preschools. This should not be attached to your application. The position includes activities during school holidays, and there may also be work in the evenings and weekends.
